Vaccinations

We give every vaccine on the national childhood schedule and the extra vaccines many parents ask about. Use the vaccine planner to see what your child is due for and when, then book a visit for the next dose.

What we help with

  • All vaccines on the South African public childhood schedule
  • Optional vaccines: chickenpox, hepatitis A, mumps (MMR) and meningococcal
  • Flu vaccine every autumn, from six months old
  • HPV for girls and boys
  • Tetanus boosters for adults
  • Catch-up plans for missed doses

How it works

  1. 1

    Check what is due

Use the vaccine planner, or bring the Road to Health booklet and we will check it with you.

  2. 2

    Quick visit

Vaccines are given in a calm room, with a few minutes to wait afterwards.

  3. 3

    Booklet updated

Every dose is recorded in your child's booklet and on our file.

Questions

Are the national schedule vaccines free?

They are free at public clinics. At a private practice you pay for the vaccine and the visit, and most medical aids cover them from your benefits.

My child missed a dose. Is it too late?

Usually not. Most vaccines can be caught up. Bring the booklet and we will make a catch-up plan.

Is it normal to have a fever afterwards?

A mild fever and a sore leg or arm for a day or two are common. Call us if your child seems very unwell, or go to an emergency unit if you are worried and we are closed.
